OVERVIEW
The Inspection Services Department is responsible for administering the General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Town of Amherst bylaws as they relate to land use and the construction and occupancy of building and structures.

The Department's goal is to ensure the public health, safety, and welfare of the inhabitants of the Town of Amherst.

Please note the following:

PERMITS: Please access applications here. Mail to: Inspection Services, Town of Amherst, 4 Boltwood Avenue, Amherst, MA 01002. Electronic copies of plans will be needed and can be sent to inspections@amherstma.gov or mailed on a thumb drive. Please submit a complete application to ensure prompt issuance.

INSPECTIONS: Please call 413-259-3030 to schedule an inspection.
