Call Force

Proudly serving the Town of Amherst with dedication, the Call Force is a branch of the Fire Department available on call to provide fire and rescue services 24/7. Augmenting the department’s career force, the Call Force may be called in to respond to an immediate fire emergency or called in service when full time career resources are committed to fire or emergency medical calls. Call firefighters are part-time, nonbenefitted employees of the Town of Amherst and are paid on an hourly basis for calls and training. All Call Firefighters are trained as first responders, and some are state certified as Emergency Medical Technicians and may staff the ambulances.
